How Big is an Acre of Land

How Big is An Acre of Land

Have you ever wondered “how big is an acre of land?”

The term “acre” gets thrown around a lot in common vernacular, but there are a surprising amount of people who have no idea how big it is.

Originally, an acre referred to the size of an area of land that oxen could plow in a work day. In modern times, we rely on more standardized and exact measurements. It’s been determined that an acre is a measurement of square footage — typically found by multiplying an area’s length and width — that equals approximately 43,560 square feet. For a more tangible point of reference, an acre is equal to about two-thirds of a football field, end zones included.
